Sound Innovator Spotlight: TILL△

Meet T I L L △, a visionary music creator whose journey is as inspiring as his sounds. Blending deep bass frequencies with spiritual insights, T I L L △ creates music that transcends traditional boundaries and promotes well-being.

Interview:

Tell us about your musical journey. How did you start, and what has shaped your path as a creator?

My musical journey has been very divinely led. Coming from a musical family, I always wanted to create music at a high level but struggled with shyness in my younger years. I didn't start making music until college when I began recording with a friend. Over the years, I faced hurdles that forced me to pause my music creation, leading me into a dark space that eventually sparked a profound spiritual awakening. This journey led me to understand the power of sound, vibration, frequency, and energy, inspiring my return to music under the alias T I L L △. Now, I create music with the intention of promoting health and well-being, using sound as a powerful force for transformation.

How do you approach the process of creating music? Do you have any specific rituals or routines that help you get into the creative flow?

For me, music is spiritual, so my creative process reflects that. I incorporate my spiritual practices, such as rituals and ceremonies, into my music creation. Sometimes, I use plant medicines to deepen the creative experience. I set an intention to be an open instrument for divine energy to flow through, often lighting a candle to invite spirit into the space. This process allows the music to create itself, with me acting as a vessel to capture and share it.

What role does bass and low frequencies play in your music? How do you incorporate bass elements to enhance the listener's experience?

Feel is everything. Growing up dancing professionally and being part of a musical family, bass and groove were central to the music I consumed. I gravitate towards bass-heavy, vibey music. My soft voice complements deep bass sounds, creating an ethereal sonic environment. I've learned about the healing power of bass frequencies and now make it a point to include them in my music. Collaborating with SUBPAC has been a game changer, enhancing the physical experience of frequencies and amplifying their healing influence.

Do you have a favorite frequency or range of frequencies that you find particularly effective in your music? How do these frequencies contribute to the overall feel of your tracks?

My favorite frequency is 136.10Hz, which resonates with the Earth's rotation and has a grounding, heart-opening effect. This frequency deeply resonates with my body and spirit, so I use it frequently in my music. I also experiment with low frequencies like 40Hz and brainwave frequencies to create transformative experiences. Bass adds fullness and power to my tracks, enhancing their overall impact.

What mindset or approach do you adopt to ensure your music resonates deeply with your listeners?

I aim to get out of the way and let spirit guide the music. Creating tracks that heal me during times of need helps the intention translate to others. Keeping spirit at the center and making music that genuinely moves me is key to resonating with listeners.

How do you stay inspired and continue to evolve as an artist? Are there any particular sources of inspiration or practices that keep you motivated?

For me, inspiration comes from my spiritual journey and relationship with life. The intuitive sense of "I have to do this" has grown stronger over time. By prioritizing my spiritual practice, I stay inspired and motivated. Balancing life’s demands with moments of complete immersion in music keeps me grounded and creative.

Health and Bass is about the intersection of music and well-being. How do you manage your emotional and mental well-being while balancing the creative demands of your career? Are there specific practices or routines you follow to stay balanced?

Music is central to my self-care practice. Balancing life’s demands with creative immersion helps maintain well-being. Practices like meditation, breathwork, and rituals keep me grounded. Prioritizing creativity over life’s tasks has greatly improved my mental, physical, and spiritual health.

Who are artists that inspire you?

I'm inspired by 70's R&B legends like Marvin Gaye, Barry White, Bob Marley, and Alice Coltrane. Modern African artists in the afrobeat and amapiano genres also inspire me. Nature sounds are another significant source of inspiration.
